Title: Renowned Scientist Wu Xiangping Delivers Science Lecture to Young People at One Class for Science Event
Beijing, China – On September 23, the China Science and Technology Museum hosted the One Class for Science themed science popularization event, where renowned scientist and academician Wu Xiangping delivered a lecture on the topic of The Distant Universe to young people.
The event, titled Scientists and Young People Building a Future Together, aimed to inspire young minds and foster a love for science. Wu Xiangping, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared the latest research findings in cosmology and explained complex scientific concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
During the lecture, Wu Xiangping discussed the origin, evolution, composition, and potential future directions of the universe. He emphasized the importance of nurturing a modern cosmic view of natural science among young people.
The lecture was part of the One Class for Science theme, which is a key science popularization activity under the 2024 Praise the Republic, Create a New Life national science museum joint action. This event was one of the highlights of the theme, with 31 science museums across the country establishing branch venues and organizing more than 50 local primary and middle schools to participate in the online and offline activities.
The China Science and Technology Museum prepared a variety of science popularization activities for young people, including scenario-based, experiential, and immersive experiences. These activities aimed to encourage widespread participation among young people, spark their interest in science, and improve their scientific literacy.
Wu Xiangping also addressed questions from young people, such as whether there is life beyond Earth and the possibility of human exploration of the universe in the future. He patiently and thoroughly answered their queries, using simple language to explain complex scientific concepts and encouraging them to maintain curiosity and a spirit of exploration in the unknown world.
In addition to the lecture, the event also featured a variety of interactive science exhibits and activities, providing young people with hands-on experiences and a deeper understanding of science.
The China Science and Technology Museum stated that it will continue to leverage the collaborative advantages of the modern science and technology museum system to work with top scientists from various disciplines and fields. The museum aims to create higher-quality science popularization experiences and build more communication platforms for young people.
The One Class for Science event is part of the ongoing efforts to promote science education and inspire young people to pursue scientific careers in China.
