Overview

The German business community is eagerly anticipating deeper cooperation with China, aiming to create a Win-Win Chain that benefits both nations. This sentiment was expressed during the second China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo’s German promotion event held in Düsseldorf, Germany. With China’s vast market opportunities and stable supply chain infrastructure, German companies see immense potential for mutual growth and innovation.

Event Highlights

The event, held recently in Düsseldorf, brought together German business leaders who shared their愿望 to delve deeper into the Chinese market. This year, we will showcase our products at the second Chain Expo’s smart car chain zone, hoping to enhance industry communication and cooperation, and drive the transformation and innovation of intelligent and sustainable supply chains, said Xu Daquan, President of Robert Bosch Group’s China division.

Strengthening Bonds

Through a series of activities including networking sessions, new product displays, project signings, and product promotions, German companies have not only expanded their friend circle but also established more stable and resilient supply chains. This provides them with greater opportunities for development in China.

The Importance of Supply Chain Resilience

In recent years, the global supply chain has faced numerous challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, and natural disasters. Maintaining the resilience and stability of the global supply chain has become a crucial factor in driving sustainable economic growth worldwide. German business representatives interviewed highlighted China’s role as a stable anchor in the global supply chain domain.

China’s Role in Global Supply Chains

China is an integral part of the global supply chain, and ‘Made in China’ has now become synonymous with high quality. China’s supply chain system is not only comprehensive but also highly agile and flexible, said Andreas Schmitz, President of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The stability and integrity of China’s supply chain have bolstered the confidence of German companies in deepening their operations in the country.

Case Studies

One such example is the German shoe giant, Deichmann. Christian Hinkel, the company’s head of corporate communications, noted that Deichmann has over 4,700 stores in 34 countries, with most of its shoe products being produced in China. The company maintains close ties with 25 long-term partners in China, ensuring high-quality products and brands for its customers. The China-Europe Railway Express has played a significant role in stabilizing the supply chain between China and Germany. Many of the materials we need for production are transported to Germany via this service, Hinkel said.

Economic Indicators

Latest statistics from the German Central Bank show that German investment in China reached a historical high of 7.3 billion euros in the first half of 2024. The German business community is optimistic about China’s innovation and opening-up, injecting new vitality into the win-win cooperation between the two countries.

Future Prospects

Clemens Schütt, a member of the Board of Directors of the German-Chinese Economic Association, pointed out that many German companies plan to expand their investments in China. Despite current challenges, he remains confident about the prospects for German-Chinese cooperation. For multinational corporations, they have established highly integrated supply networks, so reducing business in China is not a wise move, Schmitz added.

Conclusion

The German business community sees China as a key partner in trade, investment, innovation, and technology. By building a Win-Win Chain, both countries stand to benefit from deeper cooperation and shared development. As the global landscape continues to evolve, the collaboration between Germany and China will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the future of global supply chains.
