Hefei, China – The Hefei Municipal Market Supervision Administration has released a Situation Notice indicating that a joint investigation team, comprising the Market Supervision Administration, the Commerce Bureau, and the Public Security Bureau, has been established to investigate and address the recent controversy surrounding the Three Sheep Network Technology Co., Ltd.

The situation came to light when the Hong Kong Mei Cheng Mooncake promoted by Three Sheep Network Technology during their live streaming events was found to be false advertising. The brand does not exist in Hong Kong, leading to widespread consumer dissatisfaction and public outrage.

The controversy has gained significant traction on social media platforms, prompting the authorities to take action. In response, the Hefei High-Tech Industrial Development Zone Market Supervision Administration released a notice two days ago, stating that they have launched a probe into the company’s alleged deceptive marketing practices during live streaming sessions.

In a bid to address the issue, all live streaming accounts under the Three Sheep Group, including its direct and influencer channels, suspended their broadcasts. However, some of these accounts resumed operations today, only to be flooded with negative reviews from the public.

According to a situation notice released by the Huadu District Market Supervision Administration of Guangzhou City, the Hong Kong Mei Cheng Mooncake product was processed by the Guangzhou Mei Cheng Technology Co., Ltd., a company that has obtained a business license and food production license.

The Hong Kong Mei Cheng Food Group, registered in Hong Kong, owns the trademarks Mei Cheng, Hong Kong Mei Cheng Mooncake, and MEISUN, which are authorized for use on mooncake products. The trademarks were granted to the Guangzhou Mei Cheng Food Company, which then delegated the production of the Hong Kong Mei Cheng Mooncake product to the Guangzhou Mei Cheng Technology Co., Ltd.

The product packaging materials were provided by the Guangzhou Mei Cheng Food Company, and the outer packaging and text宣传工作 for the mooncake products featured the Hong Kong Mei Cheng Mooncake name.

This incident has raised concerns about the authenticity of products being promoted during live streaming events and the need for stricter regulations and oversight in this area. As the investigation continues, authorities are determined to protect consumer rights and ensure that such deceptive practices are not tolerated.

The establishment of the joint investigation team signifies a proactive approach by the authorities to address the concerns raised by the public. It remains to be seen what actions will be taken against the involved parties and whether this incident will lead to broader reforms in the live streaming industry.
