In a remarkable achievement, 24-year-old Wang Chaoqing, a gold medalist from the Paris Olympics, has successfully passed the editing exam and secured a position. The results were announced on September 19 by the Beijing Xian Nongtan Sports Technical School.
According to the announcement, Wang Chaoqing, who participated in the乒乓球队 (table tennis team) athlete position, scored 85.4 out of 100. Wang was competing against other candidates for the女足队 (women’s football team) athlete position, with Wang Yanwen securing an 84-point score.
The Beijing Xian Nongtan Sports Technical School, established in 1956 and under the jurisdiction of the Beijing Sports Bureau, is responsible for the selection and training of excellent athletes for seven sports projects, including table tennis, gymnastics, athletics, tennis, weightlifting, women’s football, and rugby. The school has nurtured over 10,000 sports talents for the Chinese and Beijing sports delegations, earning 95 world championships, including 15 Olympic gold medals. Notable alumni include Ma Long, Zhang Yining, and Ding Ning.
The school had released a public recruitment notice on August 26, 2024, inviting graduates to apply for positions as table tennis and women’s football athletes. The selection process involved a specialized ability test, with a maximum score of 100 and a passing score of 60. Wang Chaoqing, a renowned Chinese table tennis player, was born in May 2000 and has been making waves since he first showcased his talent in national youth competitions in 2013.
In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Wang Chaoqing won a gold medal in the men’s team event. Following his triumph at the Paris Olympics, where he secured gold in the men’s team and mixed doubles events, Wang’s skills were once again on display. On September 17, the International Table Tennis Federation announced that Wang had topped the world rankings in men’s singles.
The Beijing Xian Nongtan Sports Technical School has a proud history of nurturing talent. It has trained numerous world champions, including Wang Chaoqing’s predecessors Ma Long, Zhang Yining, and Ding Ning. The school’s official microblog also congratulated both Wang Chaoqing and Ma Long on their recent victories.
In addition to his achievements on the table tennis court, Wang Chaoqing has also excelled academically. In March 2020, he was recommended for an undergraduate degree at the Beijing Sport University’s sports training program by the General Administration of Sport of China.

After the specialized ability test, the school announced the results within three working days and published them on its website and the Beijing Sports Bureau’s official website. The selected candidates were then subject to a physical examination and interview process.
Upon successful completion of the trial period, Wang Chaoqing will be officially employed by the school. His salary and benefits will be in accordance with national and municipal regulations for public institutions.
