Shenzhen, China – Huawei’s original design manufacturer (ODM) partner, Huqin Technology, has announced the resignation of its Vehicle Business Group (VBG) Executive Director, Wu Wenguang, after only seven months in the role. The news was first reported by IT之家, a popular Chinese technology news portal, on September 18th.

Wu Wenguang, who joined Huqin Technology as Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the Vehicle Business Group in January this year, has decided to leave the company in August. Huqin Technology, established in 2005, specializes in ODM services, providing comprehensive services from research and development, design, production, and post-maintenance, with the sales responsibility lying with the client.

Huqin Technology’s main business covers the research and design, procurement, and production of various intelligent hardware products, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and smartwatches. The company’s clients include well-known brands like Samsung, OPPO, Xiaomi, Amazon, and Lenovo. It is reported that Huqin Technology is the world’s largest smartphone ODM in 2023.

To diversify its revenue streams beyond the smartphone business, Huqin Technology has been actively expanding into the automotive electronics field. The company established its automotive electronics business research team in 2018 and began large-scale investment in the automotive electronics business in 2021. Huqin Technology has developed products such as smart gateways, cabin entertainment systems, millimeter-wave radar, cabin domain controllers, and intelligent driving domain controllers.

In April this year, Wu Wenguang, while introducing the company’s automotive business at the Beijing Auto Show, revealed that Huqin Technology’s automotive business group had just been established with a team of about 400 people. At that time, Huqin’s automotive business did not have a clear roadmap and aimed to reach 1,000 employees by the end of the year. Wu’s focus was on analyzing and judging market and customer demands for Huqin’s automotive business and refining the internal technical route.

Currently, Huqin Technology has reached more than 20 cooperation agreements with domestic automotive manufacturers, including intelligent networking, domain integration, and platform VCU products. The company has mass-produced smart cabin products equipped with Qualcomm’s 6125 and 8155 chips.

The sudden resignation of Wu Wenguang, a key figure in Huqin Technology’s automotive business, may have a certain impact on the development of the company’s automotive electronics business. It remains to be seen how Huqin Technology will adjust its strategy in the future.
