Chinese Teenager Shang Juncheng Faces Former US Open Finalist Nishikori in ChengduOpen
Chengdu, China – The ATP 250 Chengdu Openis set to begin at the Sichuan International Tennis Center, and the draw has been revealed, setting the stage for an exciting week of tennis. The tournament’stop seed, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, leads the charge alongside the other top four seeds, all receiving a bye in the first round. However, thedraw has thrown up a captivating first-round clash for Chinese rising star Shang Juncheng, who will face former world No. 4 and US Open finalist Kei Nishikori of Japan.
The draw ceremony, held on Monday afternoon, sawATP Tournament Director Luis Cavallo, Tournament Supervisor Zoltan Beda, and ATP Tour Manager Diego Pedraza Novak in attendance. American player Alexander Kovacevic, currently ranked 75th in the world, served as a guestfor the event.
Musetti, Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik, Chile’s Nicolas Jarry, and Spain’s Pedro Martinez, the tournament’s top four seeds, were drawn into the first, fourth, second, and third quarters respectively. Their first-round byes mean they will directly enter the second roundof the tournament.
