Beautiful Anhui Dialogue with the World Enters the United Nations
Geneva, Switzerland – On September 16th, the Beautiful Anhui Dialoguewith the World 2024 Anhui Culture and Tourism (Geneva) Promotion Conference was held at the Palais des Nations, the United Nations Office at Geneva. Theevent attracted over 100 representatives from various countries, including ambassadors from over 30 nations like the UK, Japan, Cuba, and the US, as well asrepresentatives from relevant UN agencies.
Sun Yong, Vice Governor of Anhui Province, highlighted the province’s commitment to promoting cultural and tourism as a key window for opening up to the world. He emphasized the province’s efforts to buildthe Mount Huangshan region into a world-class leisure, vacation, and health tourism destination. This event, held on the UN platform, aims to strengthen international cooperation and exchange in the cultural and tourism sector, enhance Anhui’s reputation andinfluence, and accelerate the construction of a beautiful Anhui in line with the Chinese model of modernization. He warmly invited everyone to visit Anhui, explore its potential, experience its unique charm, and engage in collaboration and friendship.
Chen Xu, the Representative of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office at Genevaand other International Organizations in Switzerland, expressed that the event deepened the understanding of Chinese culture among the ambassadors and journalists present. He welcomed everyone to visit Anhui and China to experience firsthand the development of the Chinese model of modernization and to deepen cooperation in various fields.
Francisco Pisano, Chairman of the Cultural Committee of theUnited Nations Office at Geneva, commended the event for showcasing the beauty and vitality of Anhui Province. He recognized it as a powerful testament to the role of culture in promoting international cooperation and friendship. He expressed his anticipation for continued collaboration between Anhui Province, the UN, and countries worldwide in cultural exchange and shared development.
During the event, Zhou Mingjie, Director of the Anhui Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, presented a detailed overview of the Mount Huangshan region as a world-class leisure, vacation, and health tourism destination to the international diplomats. Wang Huixiao, Director of the Anhui Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine,delivered a presentation on the Anhui health (wellness) industry. Three tea companies, Xie Yuda, Six Hundred Li, and Tianzhihong, showcased their heritage through their respective non-hereditary inheritors, promoting Huangshan Maofeng, Taiping Houkui, and Qimen Black Tea. The traditionalAnhui folk custom of Huizhou Fish Lantern, originating from the peak of Mount Huangshan, journeyed through the summit of Jungfrau, traversed Lake Geneva, and finally reached the UN, showcasing the unique charm of Anhui.
