Nanning, Guangxi – September 16, 2024 – More than 20 international friend cities in Guangxi will be featured at the 21st China-ASEAN Expo, as the event continues to leverage the resources of its international partners to enhance its development and foster economic cooperation.
The China-ASEAN Expo, known as Dong博会, has announced the continuation of its Guangxi International Friend Cities into Dong博会 initiative. This program aims to fully utilize the resources of Guangxi’s international friend cities to serve the upgrading and development of the Expo, and to continuously build a cooperation platform of Friend City + Economy and Trade.
According to information released by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, preparations for the exhibition area are progressing smoothly. Over 20 friend cities from 12 countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Australia, France, Mexico, and South Africa, have confirmed their participation.
The friend city exhibition area, spanning nearly 600 square meters, will include the Guangxi Autonomous Region main exhibition area, the Nanning Friend City exhibition area, the Charming City exhibition area of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and the Kwazulu-Natal Province exhibition area of South Africa. It will showcase the products and city images of over 20 international friend cities in Guangxi.
The exhibits will cover a wide range of products, including specialty foods, daily chemicals, household goods, handicrafts, clothing and home textiles, health products, and office supplies. Over 3,000 items will be displayed, with some specialty foods available for tasting.
During the 21st China-ASEAN Expo, the organizers will also host a series of activities, including the Guangxi International Friend City Promotion and Exchange Conference, the Nanning-Ho Chi Minh City Economic Corridor and Belt and Road Nanning International Friendly City Exchange Conference, business matching and negotiation sessions, and visit and investigation activities. These events aim to deepen understanding and promote practical cooperation through various forms of exchange and interaction.
To date, Guangxi has established 130 pairs of international friend cities with 39 countries, including 61 pairs with ASEAN countries.
The China-ASEAN Expo has become a significant platform for promoting economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and the countries of Southeast Asia. The involvement of international friend cities in the Expo highlights the importance of regional cooperation and friendship in fostering economic growth and cultural understanding.
As the event continues to grow and evolve, the participation of international friend cities is expected to further enhance the Expo’s reputation and its role as a key driver of regional economic development.
