Apple Speeds Up iPhone 16 USB-C Charging with 45WUpgrade
SAN FRANCISCO – Apple has significantly boosted the wired charging capabilities ofits latest iPhone 16 lineup, allowing for a much faster recharge than its predecessor.
During Monday’s Glowtime event, Apple unveileda 25W MagSafe charging upgrade for the iPhone 16 series. However, a Weibo post spotted by reliable leaker ShrimpApplePro revealed thatthe wired charging capabilities have also been significantly enhanced.
According to reports from the China Quality Certification Center, all iPhone 16 models are now capable of charging at up to 45W when using a USB-C connection.This marks a substantial increase compared to the iPhone 15 Pro models, which could only manage around 25W over USB-C.
While Apple doesn’t publicly disclose the specific charging specifications for its iPhones, they do mentiona fast-charging option that allows the device to reach 50% charge in approximately 30 minutes when using a 20W or higher adapter with USB-C. For 2024, this includes MagSafe charging with a 30W adapter.
This 45W chargingcapability means that iPhone 16 users can now take advantage of higher wattage chargers, potentially leading to significantly faster charging times. However, it remains unclear if Apple will provide a 45W charger in the box or if users will need to purchase it separately.
