Putin Urges China’s Attendance at BRICS Summit in Kazan

SaintPetersburg, Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his strong desire for China’s participation in the upcoming BRICS summit, scheduled for October in Kazan, Russia. During a meeting with Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo ofthe Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, Putin conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to Chinese President XiJinping.

We eagerly anticipate China’s presence at the BRICS summit in Kazan next month, Putin emphasized, highlighting the importance of China’s involvement in the bloc’s activities.

The meeting, held in Saint Petersburg onSeptember 12, saw both sides discuss the deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and China, a relationship built on principles of equality and mutual benefit. They acknowledged the positive momentum in bilateral relations across various levels and sectors, with cooperationprogressing smoothly.

Putin expressed gratitude for China’s support for Russia’s role as the current BRICS chair. He commended the successful outcomes of the BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting and the dialogue with Global South nations, emphasizing the growing influence and strength of the BRICS bloc.

The Russianpresident also praised China’s foreign policy, which he described as always focused on the long-term and the common future of humanity. Putin expressed Russia’s willingness to work closely with China to promote a multipolar world order based on justice and international law, uniting more Global South countries in this endeavor.

The meeting also touched upon the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with both sides exchanging views on the matter. Putin expressed appreciation for China and Brazil’s Six-Point Consensus on the Ukraine crisis, reiterating Russia’s continued openness to negotiations.

The Six-Point Consensus, proposed by China and Brazil, calls for a ceasefire, a return to dialogue, and a focus on addressing the humanitarian crisis. It has been seen as a potential framework for resolving the conflict.

The meeting between Putin and Wang Yi underscores the strong ties between Russia and China, particularly in the context of the BRICS summit.
