Title: Russian Diplomat Asserts Kiev’s Potential Strikes Inside Russia as US Psychological Warfare Strategy

Source: TASS Russian News Agency

Date: September 11, 2023

Moscow, Russia – Sergey Ryabkov, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, has commented on the U.S.’s statements suggesting it could lift restrictions for Ukraine to conduct strikes within Russian territory. Ryabkov described these statements as an element of psychological warfare, a tactic he believes is part of a broader hybrid war that Washington has been waging against Russia for an extended period.

In a press briefing, Ryabkov highlighted that this psychological pressure is aimed at influencing and undermining Russia’s unwavering commitment to achieving the goals set for the special military operation in Ukraine. He emphasized that such escalatory policies and signals from the United States will not alter Russia’s course but instead will increase the risks and dangers for the U.S. and its allies.

Furthermore, Ryabkov commented on the potential lifting of restrictions on the use of U.S.-supplied weapons for strikes deep into Russian territory, stating that these actions are aimed at escalation rather than resolution. He warned that such actions would not change Russia’s stance but would heighten risks for the U.S. and its allies globally.

The Russian diplomat also called for the U.S. to reassess its stance if it is genuinely interested in its own security. He recommended that the U.S. cease making provocative statements regarding Ukraine’s missile attacks and stop supplying weapons to the Kiev government. Additionally, he suggested that the U.S. should avoid inciting its clients in Kiev to take steps that could further exacerbate the situation.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov echoed Ryabkov’s concerns, suggesting that the West has seemingly authorized Kiev to conduct strikes on Russian territory with long-range missiles. Peskov indicated that this decision is being formalized through media outlets, with reports from The Times of London suggesting that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who recently visited Kiev, are planning to discuss the possibility of allowing such strikes.
