Hong Kong, known for its high expectations, has entered a new era of technology development, thanks to the country’s support to transform it into an international innovation and technology center. The NovaX International Venture Capital Carnival 2024, which took place on August 28-29, was a testament to this shift.
The carnival, a significant gathering in Asia’s tech VC landscape, drew over 200 tech companies and nearly 400 high net-worth individuals. It provided an interoperable platform for four-way exchanges among tech companies, funders, business service organizations, and government departments. The event covered key cutting-edge areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Financial Technology (Fintech), Medical Technology (MedTech), and Blockchain technology.
Hong Kong’s Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Prof. Sun Dong, JP, addressed the event, reiterating the government’s commitment to building a comprehensive support system for IT startups. He encouraged investors and business partners to actively participate in Hong Kong’s IT ecosystem.
A highlight of the event was the announcement of the Hong Kong Factor Unicorn List, which recognizes tech startups with certain core elements, including being less than 10 years old, valued over $1 billion, and having a Hong Kong identity or connection to the city. The list has already exceeded 50 companies, reflecting the vibrancy of Hong Kong’s startup scene.
Among the numerous participants was DN.com, a domain name trading platform, which showcased selected domain names and set up an exclusive booth. The booth was abuzz with activity, as high-quality domain names were presented to potential buyers, offering new development opportunities for the exhibiting companies.
The domain names available included those related to blockchain, artificial intelligence, and short, memorable two- and three-letter combinations. Attendees could even experience the AI Consultation service at the booth, where AI employees provided basic diagnoses and suggestions after receiving voice inputs.
Another highlight of the event was the investor matching session, which adopted a speed dating format. With twenty tables centrally located at the venue, each paired an investor with a venture company, facilitating rapid connections and potential funding opportunities.
The Hong Kong NovaX Venture Capital Carnival not only served as a platform for showcasing cutting-edge technologies and innovative startups but also highlighted the pivotal role of domain names, such as those offered by DN.com, in helping enterprises take off and thrive in today’s digital landscape.
