Guizhou Deepens Friendship City Cooperation for Mutual Benefit and Win-Win
Guiyang, China, September 9, 2024– The 2024 Guizhou International Friendship Cities Exchange and Cooperation Conference was held in Guiyang on September 9th. During the conference, Guizhou Province signed agreements to deepen friendship relations and cooperation with several international partners.
Guizhou Province signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vitebsk Oblast of Belarusto deepen friendly provincial and state exchanges and cooperation. It also signed an agreement with the Imereti Region of Georgia to establish friendly provincial and state relations. Furthermore, Guizhou signed a memorandum of understanding with the Töv Aimag of Mongoliato deepen friendly provincial exchanges and cooperation.
In addition to these provincial-level agreements, four city-level friendship city agreements and several multi-field cooperation projects were also signed during the conference.
Zhang Yangbin, Deputy Secretary-Generalof the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, stated that the development of international friendship cities can promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign local governments, leading to resource sharing and win-win cooperation.
In recent years, Guizhou has utilized international friendship cities as a key driver for its opening up to the world. The province has adopted a friendship city + field approach, creating a new pattern of diplomatic exchanges that benefits multiple parties.
Vansavath, Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Committee and Governor of Luang Namtha Province, expressed his satisfaction with the deepening relationship between Luang Namtha andGuizhou since the establishment of their friendly provincial relationship. He highlighted the continuous progress in bilateral relations and expressed his desire to further promote cooperation in various fields for the mutual benefit of both regions.
In 2021, Guizhou and Luang Namtha Province signed a memorandum of understanding on friendly provincial relations.Since then, Luang Namtha has organized several delegations to visit Guizhou, strengthening cooperation in areas such as tourism, agriculture, and education.
Currently, Guizhou has established friendship city relations with over 120 cities in more than 50 countries. Moving forward, Guizhou Province aims to leverage theinternational friendship city cooperation platform to deepen cooperation with its partner cities in areas such as trade, culture, tourism, and education, ultimately achieving mutual benefit and win-win development.
This conference serves as a testament to Guizhou’s commitment to international cooperation and its proactive approach to fostering mutually beneficial relationships with international partners.By strengthening ties with its friendship cities, Guizhou aims to leverage its resources and expertise to promote economic growth, cultural exchange, and sustainable development, both within the province and on a global scale.
