Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has joined the chorus of praise for the Chinese 3A video game, ‘Black Myth: Wukong.’ The game, developed by Game Science Studio, has been making waves globally since its launch, capturing the attention of players and notable figures alike. In a recent post, Musk extolled the game as an impressive Chinese 3A title and even shared a photoshopped image of himself with the game’s protagonist, the Heavenly Destined Man, showcasing a seamless blend of his features with the character.

‘Black Myth: Wukong’ has indeed emerged as one of the most successful 3A titles of the year. According to sales data released by Video Game Insights, as of September 4, the game’s sales have climbed steadily to 17.8 million copies, marking a significant increase of nearly 3 million units from the previous week.

Moreover, these figures do not include sales on the Wegame platform and PS5. With the confirmed 3 million sales on PS5, the total sales of ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ could easily surpass the 20 million mark.

This rapid ascent has seen ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ surpass the initial week sales myth of 10 million for the game ‘Elden Ring’ in just four days. It then reached nearly 20 million sales in just two weeks, surpassing the current 15 million sales of ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ by nearly 5 million, continuously breaking historical records.

Data from the website Gamalytic reveals that the majority of players are from China, accounting for a significant 80.7% of the player base. However, the proportion of overseas players is also steadily increasing, rising from 18.6% to 19.3% in just nine days.

The game has also garnered high praise from YouTube personality Legendary Drops, who believes that ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ breaks the long-standing thematic limitations of the Western gaming industry. He praised the game for its rich Chinese cultural elements and innovative gaming experience, which have provided Western players with a refreshing new perspective.

The success of ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ is not just a testament to the game’s quality but also to the growing influence of Chinese gaming in the global market. The game’s rich narrative, inspired by the classic Chinese novel ‘Journey to the West,’ and its stunning visuals have captivated audiences worldwide.

Musk’s endorsement adds another layer of credibility to the game’s growing reputation. His interest in the game is not surprising, given his known appreciation for technology and innovation. The fact that he took the time to engage with the game’s community by sharing a personalized image speaks volumes about the game’s impact.

As the gaming industry continues to evolve, ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ stands out as a beacon of innovation and cultural pride. With its impressive sales and critical acclaim, the game is setting new standards for what can be achieved in the realm of video games, particularly in the context of Chinese storytelling and game development.

In conclusion, ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ has not only captured the imagination of players but also the attention of influential figures like Elon Musk. Its success is a testament to the growing power of Chinese gaming and the universal appeal of well-crafted, culturally rich narratives.
