China Eastern Airlines has announced that the first flight of its brand-new C919 aircraft will take place on September 10th, 2024. The flight, designated as CA1523/4, will operate on the Beijing Capital to Shanghai Hongqiao route.
As reported, starting from the day after the inaugural flight, the C919 will be responsible for flying between Beijing Capital and Shanghai Hongqiao, as well as between Beijing Capital and Hangzhou Xiaoshan. The specific flight schedules are as follows: Beijing Capital to Shanghai Hongqiao (CA1507) and Shanghai Hongqiao to Beijing Capital (CA1508), and Beijing Capital to Hangzhou Xiaoshan (CA1722) and Hangzhou Xiaoshan to Beijing Capital (CA1727).
In addition, from September 10th to October 10th, 2024, Phoenix知音 members flying on China Eastern Airlines’ actual C919 flights with CA flight numbers will be eligible for an extra 919 miles of non-tiered mileage rewards.
It is learned that the China Eastern Airlines C919 is the first domestic large aircraft to be adorned with the five-star red flag. The first aircraft, an extended-range model, is the only one of its kind chosen by the three major airlines.
Compared to the basic model, the extended-range C919 has a greater maximum takeoff weight (78.9 tons) and engine thrust (30,000 pounds), allowing for longer flight ranges.
The C919, developed by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), is a narrow-body, twin-engine civil aircraft designed for short to medium-haul routes. The aircraft is a significant step forward for China’s aviation industry, as it represents the country’s ambition to develop its own civil aviation technology.
The C919 program has been in development for over a decade and has received substantial support from the Chinese government. It has been eagerly awaited by both the domestic and international aviation industries, as it represents China’s push to become a leader in civil aviation technology.
The upcoming launch of the C919 by China Eastern Airlines is expected to be a landmark event for the Chinese aviation industry. It will not only mark the debut of the aircraft on the domestic market but also demonstrate the capabilities of Chinese-made civil aircraft on the global stage.
As the C919 begins operations, it will face stiff competition from other aircraft models, such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320neo. However, with its advanced technology and competitive pricing, the C919 is well-positioned to carve out a niche in the market.
In conclusion, the upcoming launch of the C919 by China Eastern Airlines is a significant event for the Chinese aviation industry. It represents a major step forward in the development of domestic civil aviation technology and the country’s ambition to become a leader in the global aviation market.
