Intel’s Next-Gen Laptop Processors: Panther Lake Series Leaked, FeaturingUp to 18 CPU Cores and 12 GPU Cores
September6, 2024 – Intel’s upcoming Panther Lake processors, codenamed Core Ultra 300 series, havebeen leaked, revealing details about the potential SKUs and performance capabilities. According to Tom’s Hardware, citing information shared by Jaykihn on X (formerlyTwitter), the new processors are expected to be built on Intel’s 18A process technology and feature a combination of Cougar Cove P-Cores, Skymont E-Cores, and Xe3 (Celestial) integrated graphics.
The leaked information suggests five potential Panther Lake SKUs:
- PTL-H 4+8+4+4Xe 25W
- PTL-H 4+8+4+12Xe 25W
- PTL-H 4+0+4+4Xe 25W
- PTL-H 6+8+4+4Xe 45W
- PTL-H 6+8+4+12Xe 28W
The first two SKUs share the same CPU configuration, differing only in the number of Xe3 GPU cores. The latter two SKUs, with higher power ratings, are reportedly pre-EDS (External Design Specification) versions, indicating they are still under development and may change before release.
One of the Panther Lake-H SKUs is a 45W HX series component featuring 6 P-cores, 8 E-cores, 4 LP E-cores, and an iGPU with 4 Xe3 GPU cores. Another SKU, operating at 28W, uses the same6 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and 4 LP E-cores as the 45W version but integrates a more powerful graphics chip with 12 Xe3 GPU cores.
This leak suggests that Intel is focusing on offering a wide range of performance options for its next-generation laptopprocessors. The combination of P-cores and E-cores, along with the integrated Xe3 graphics, aims to deliver both high performance for demanding tasks and efficient power consumption for everyday use.
The Panther Lake series is expected to succeed the recently launched Lunar Lake (Core Ultra 200V series) and couldpotentially offer significant performance improvements. The 18A process technology, with its improved power efficiency and performance, is likely to play a crucial role in this advancement.
However, it’s important to note that these are leaked details and should be taken with a grain of salt. Intel has not officially confirmed any informationabout the Panther Lake series, and the final specifications and features may differ from what is currently being reported.
The release date of the Panther Lake series is still unknown, but it is expected to arrive sometime in 2025. The new processors are likely to be a significant upgrade for laptops, offering a blendof power, efficiency, and integrated graphics capabilities that could redefine the mobile computing landscape.
