A symposium titled Chinese Language Education in Iran was recently held in Tehran, the capital of Iran. The event was co-hosted by the China Ministry of Education’s Center for International Chinese Language and Cultural Cooperation and the Chinese Embassy in Iran.

Representatives from various Iranian universities and cultural research institutions, including Tehran University, Alameh Tabataba’i University, Shahid Beheshti University, and the Iranian Language Center, participated in the symposium. They engaged in heated discussions and offered suggestions on the development of Chinese education in Iran.
Chinese Ambassador Emphasizes the Importance of Language Education
Chinese Ambassador to Iran Cong Peiwu emphasized the significance of Chinese language education as a crucial channel for cultural exchanges between China and Iran. He highlighted that it is a fundamental means for the two peoples to enhance their understanding and deepen their friendship. Cong expressed optimism about the vast potential and promising prospects of Chinese language education in Iran. He expressed China’s willingness to work together with Iran to strengthen the two-way exchange and cooperation in language education, and to conduct in-depth research on each other’s history and culture. This collaboration aims to make greater contributions to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples and promoting practical cooperation between the two countries.
Professor of Chinese Studies Calls for Strengthened Collaboration
Professor of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature at Tehran University, and Sinologist, Hou Mete, emphasized that language is a necessary tool for all forms of communication. By mastering a language, one can better understand a country’s art and cultural field. Hou highlighted that Chinese language education has provided a better platform for deepening the relationship between China and Iran, and that Iran should strengthen cooperation and research with China in the field of Chinese language and literature.
Director of the China Research Center at Alameh Tabataba’i University Expresses Optimism
Jalali, the Director of the China Research Center at Alameh Tabataba’i University, expressed optimism regarding the future of Chinese language education in Iran. He noted that students learning Chinese and Persian will become the cultural ambassadors of the two countries in the future. Jalali hopes that Chinese language education in Iran will be further promoted and deepened.
