The Solana network has witnessed significant momentum over the past year, driven by the relentless innovation of its developer ecosystem. These innovators have established Solana as a leading platform for payments, consumer applications, gaming, social interactions, and decentralized protocol infrastructure (DePIN). From solutions enabling merchants to accept USDC payments with near-instant settlement and low transaction fees to a surge of new applications beyond the DeFi space, Solana developers have contributed significantly to the network’s diverse application landscape.

Hackathons play a crucial role in the continued growth of the Solana network, saidDan Albert, Executive Director of the Solana Foundation. These events empower developers to create meaningful solutions that disrupt industries, address real-world problems, and develop practical applications only possible on Solana.

To further encourage the exploration of new use cases on the Solana network, the Radar online hackathon focuses on seven key areas:

  • DePIN: Hosted by Solana Mobile
  • DeFi: Hosted by Drift
  • DAOs and Communities: Hosted by MetaDAO
  • Payments: Hosted by Portal
  • Consumer Applications: Hosted by Dialect
  • Gaming: Hosted by MagicBlock
  • Infrastructure: Hostedby Wormhole

The most outstanding project will be awarded the Grand Prize by Sphere, including $50,000 in USDC and three tickets to the 2025 Solana Foundation’s annual conference, Breakpoint. Additionally, three special awards will be presented: Best for Good Project, Best Climate-Focused Project, and Best Campus Project. Hackathon winners will also have the opportunity to be selected for the Colosseum accelerator program, receiving $250,000 in pre-seed funding, resource connections, and 1:1 mentorship.

We look forward to collaborating with the Solana Foundation and many other partners within the Solanaecosystem to continue encouraging experimentation, entrepreneurial innovation, and solving real-world problems.

Over the past three years, over 60,000 developers have participated in Solana-hosted hackathons, resulting in over 4,000 projects launched and over $600 million in cumulative funding. Notableprojects born from these hackathons include Jito, Tensor, io.net, Marinade, and Solend.
