Golden Horse Film Festival Embraces Time and Dreams in Stunning Visual Identity

Taipei, Taiwan – The 61st Golden Horse Film Festival,a prestigious event celebrating the best of Chinese-language cinema, has unveiled its captivating visual identity, Between Moments, a stunning series of posters that capture the essenceof time and dreams.

The posters, designed by Taipei-based design studio MixCode, in collaboration with Golden Horse Award-winning cinematographer Yu Ching-ping and renowned dancer Hsu Fang-yi, are a testament to the power of visual storytelling. Each poster, representing Dawn, Night, Twilight, and the overarching Between Moments, is a mesmerizing blend of photography, dance, and color, evoking a sense of fluidity and ethereal beauty.

Yu Ching-ping’s masterful use of slow shutter speeds creates a layered effect, capturing the subtle shifts of light and shadow. These images are then interwoven with HsuFang-yi’s graceful dance movements, which embody the passage of time and the ephemeral nature of dreams. The resulting visuals are both captivating and thought-provoking, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the magical world of cinema.

The color palette of the posters, dominated by blues, oranges, pinks, and purples, further reinforces the theme of dreams and time. The smooth gradients and subtle transitions create a dreamlike atmosphere, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.

The text, using the same brand logo and font as the 60th Golden Horse Awards, is presented in bold red or white, ensuring clarity anda timeless elegance. Each poster features a distinct color scheme that reflects the specific time of day it represents:

  • Dawn bursts with vibrant orange and blue, symbolizing the hope and promise of a new beginning.
  • Night embraces a soft, ethereal pink and blue, creating anatmosphere of mystery and magic.
  • Twilight evokes a sense of melancholy and nostalgia with its warm golden hues fading into the darkness.
  • Between Moments masterfully combines the elements of the previous three posters, creating a layered and complex visual that embodies the infinite possibilities of time and dreams.

MixCode explains that the decision to combine the three posters into one was inspired by the festival’s overarching theme of time. Each individual poster represents a distinct moment, but when combined, they create a new, multi-layered narrative that transcends the boundaries of time. This concept mirrors the power of cinema to transportaudiences through time and space, offering them a glimpse into worlds beyond their own.

The Between Moments visual identity is a powerful reminder that cinema is not just a form of entertainment, but a powerful tool for exploring the complexities of human experience. As Yu Ching-ping aptly stated, Cinema is the executor ofdreams. The Golden Horse Film Festival, through its stunning visual identity, invites audiences to embark on a journey of cinematic exploration, where time and dreams intertwine to create a magical and unforgettable experience.
