On August 28, 2024, the 100 Cities, 10,000 People Meiren Health Benevolent Run officially commenced in Daning Park, Jing’an District, Shanghai. The event, one of the key activities celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Meiren Health Group, saw the enthusiastic participation of over a hundred Meiren employees and community members. The initiative aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, implement the Healthy China Strategy, and safeguard the health of the nation.
The Launch
At around 7 a.m., with the sound of the starting gun, participants clad in统一的运动装备 (uniform sports attire) burst into action, drenched in sweat and enjoying the thrill and challenge of running in the lush, lotus-scented park. The event was not just a run but a collective effort to spread love and well-being.
A Commitment to Social Responsibility
Meiren Health Group’s Vice President, Guo Meiling, participated in the event and delivered a speech. She highlighted the group’s dedication to social responsibility, integrating charity and public welfare into the corporate culture. From assisting the disabled, supporting education, to caring for the elderly, rural revitalization, and occupational health, the group’s public welfare efforts have benefited over 420,000 people. We believe that every effort we make will become a force for change, pushing society towards a healthier and more harmonious direction, Guo stated.
The Highlight: Meiren Health Benevolent Run App
One of the event highlights was the Meiren Health Benevolent Run app, a platform that combines exercise, health, and public welfare. The app is part of Meiren’s next major public welfare IP project.
The ‘Meiren Health Benevolent Run’ app encourages more people to step out of their homes and engage in physical activities. While gaining health benefits, participants can also help others receive public welfare health check-up services. Every kilometer run will be converted into ‘health run points’ at a 1:1 ratio, which can be used to exchange for public welfare projects for special groups in society. Every step taken becomes a bridge to convey love and hope, allowing the seeds of health to take root in more hearts, Guo explained.
A Nationwide Initiative
The 100 Cities, 10,000 People Meiren Health Benevolent Run is a nationwide event that started in Shanghai and expanded to major cities like Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Guiyang, and even remote areas like Hohhot, Urumqi, Hami, and Aksu. Over twenty cities participated, attracting nearly 10,000 runners who contributed their passion and爱心 (love) to the cause.
Reflections and Impact
The event not only celebrated Meiren Health Group’s 20th anniversary but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of health and well-being. By integrating public welfare into a healthy activity like running, Meiren Health Group has set a precedent for corporate social responsibility. The Meiren Health Benevolent Run app is a significant step towards fostering a culture of health and philanthropy.
The 100 Cities, 10,000 People Meiren Health Benevolent Run is more than just a running event; it is a movement that embodies the spirit of community, health, and compassion. As participants laced up their running shoes and hit the park, they were not just running for themselves but for a cause greater than themselves – the health and happiness of society.
This event underscores the ongoing efforts of Meiren Health Group to promote a healthier society and underscores the potential of corporate initiatives to drive positive change. As the group continues to expand its reach and impact, it sets an example for other corporations to follow in integrating social responsibility with business growth.
