新闻报道 沙特阿拉伯将举办2024年世界电子竞技锦标赛，这一盛事将由国际电子竞技联盟主办。虽然主办城市尚未公布，但沙特阿拉伯首都利雅得已经成功举办了Gamers8电子竞技节，其中包括《Dota 2》锦标赛——2023年利雅得大师赛，奖金池达到了1500万美元。2023年的世界电子竞技锦标赛包括《铁拳7》《实况足球》《DOTA2》《CS:GO》（包括公开组和女子组）以及《无尽对决》《PUBG 手游》等项目。在WCG赛事期间，《CS:GO》公开赛峰值观众人数达到了13600人，女子锦标赛观众人数为15300人，《Dota 2》峰值观众人数为21800人，而《无尽对决》的峰值观众人数高达700000人。
中国选手李晓峰在2005新加坡、2006蒙扎连续两届WCG拿下《魔兽争霸》项目冠军，被称为“人皇”并进入WCG名人堂。
沙特阿拉伯对于电子竞技的热情和实力不容小觑，举办2024年世界电子竞技锦标赛将进一步推动电子竞技在全球范围内的发展。
