Jinan Metro Line 8 Phase 1’s Xiuyuan River DepotMain Building Tops Out
Jinan, China, September 3,2024 – The main structure of the comprehensive building at the Xiuyuan River Depot, part of the Jinan Metro Line 8 Phase 1project, has been successfully topped out, according to China Communications Construction Group (CCCC). The depot is being built by CCCC’s Road & Bridge Group inthe project’s seventh construction area.
The Xiuyuan River Depot, strategically located south of Jinan Shi Dong Road and west of Bu Village Road, is designated as a fixed repair depot for Line 8. Covering an area of approximately40 hectares, the depot is being constructed in phases according to a comprehensive plan. The first phase, carefully designed to meet the urgent needs of vehicle storage and maintenance for the next decade, includes key facilities such as the comprehensive building,operation yard, car wash bay, integrated online testing shed, and a mixed step-down substation.
Upon completion, the depot will play a crucial role in connecting Jinan’s central urban area with the Zhangqiu district, providing a vital link for rapid transit. It will also significantly enhance the city’s internalrail network density, acting as a key pillar in the development of a multi-level integrated transportation system. The depot represents a significant step in expanding and extending Jinan’s urban rail network spatially.
