In a significant step forward in the realm of blockchain technology, China has announced the release of its first blockchain专用计算硬件开放架构 (Blockchain Unified Device Architecture), known as BUDA Prajna. The groundbreaking architecture, unveiled on August 26, aims to provide a unified platform for the underlying software of blockchain and privacy computing, enhancing efficiency and security in the circulation of data elements.

Developed by the National Blockchain Innovation and Technology Center, BUDA Prajna represents a milestone in China’s efforts to boost the performance of blockchain networks and expand the application ecosystem. The architecture standardizes dedicated hardware functions, implementation guidelines, and invocation interfaces for blockchain and privacy computing, thereby addressing the瓶颈 of hardware computing performance that has hindered the progress of many domestic blockchain products.

In recent years, the application of blockchain technology in digital economy scenarios has widened, emphasizing its value in empowering a digital powerhouse. The长安链 (Changan Chain), China’s first self-controlled blockchain software and hardware technology system, including a leading-edge blockchain base software and a 96-core blockchain-specific acceleration chip, has been developed by the center. The team behind长安链 has been working to optimize hardware technology and create a more accessible hardware open architecture, enabling the blockchain community to benefit from the performance advantages of specialized hardware.

The BUDA Prajna system encompasses architecture specifications, functional implementation guidelines, and interface standards. Chinese manufacturers can now design blockchain and privacy computing-specific hardware based on these open references, and different blockchain software platforms can leverage the open interface standards to access these functionalities, ultimately enhancing overall system performance.

One of the key features of BUDA Prajna is its facilitation of interconnectivity and collaboration between various blockchain networks. This helps reduce the complexity of data exchange between different blockchain application chains, promoting compatibility and interoperability among blockchain and privacy computing hardware. The architecture is designed to encourage the exchange and sharing of data elements within the blockchain network more efficiently, breaking down information islands and fostering a more robust digital economy.

The National Blockchain Innovation and Technology Center’s commitment to expanding the openness and accessibility of blockchain hardware technology is expected to resolve challenges such as slow development in hardware design, performance limitations in specific blockchain applications, and low interoperability efficiency between different blockchain底层 platforms. This progressive approach is anticipated to stimulate industry innovation, enabling more partners to produce blockchain and privacy computing hardware, and accelerate the development of the national blockchain network.

The launch of BUDA Prajna underscores China’s dedication to fostering a collaborative and innovative blockchain ecosystem. As the country pushes for the wider adoption and application of blockchain technology, this new architecture will play a pivotal role in promoting efficient data circulation and sharing, contributing to the growth and dynamism of the digital economy.
