As the world’s first national-level import-themed expo, theCIIE’s successful hosting, particularly China’s interest and purchasing power for imported goods, left a profound impression on me, shared Meng Linghua, the editor-in-chief of the Japanese publication East Sea New Vision, who participated in the second CIIE as a representative of Japanese Chinese media in2019. The CIIE showcases the vitality of China’s economic development. With rising living standards, Chinese citizens are increasingly interested in high-quality products from around the world. More and more exhibitors have recognized the immense potential of the Chinese market, and some have even become investors, establishing factories, research and development institutions, and even headquarters in China, particularly in Shanghai.
Beyond its role as a platform for economic and trade cooperation, the CIIE serves as a crucial catalyst for deepening bilateral relations and fostering friendship. Zhu Xine, deputy editor-in-chief of the Egyptian publication China Weekly, remarked, Seeing Egyptian sculptures at the CIIE Cultural Exhibition Center felt very familiar. This reflects the cultural exchange between China and Egypt, symbolizing the friendship between our two countries. Egypt has participated in the CIIE with delegations on multiple occasions, and we have covered these events extensively. Egyptian businesses and government organizationsare eager to learn more about China’s economic and cultural development through our reporting. They hope to showcase Egyptian products in industries like manufacturing and tourism at the CIIE, promoting bilateral exchange. In the future, I hope to provide more in-depth and comprehensive coverage of the CIIE through our Chinese-Arabicbilingual platform.
Zhang Xianfeng, deputy director of the Information Center of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, emphasized the significance of the overseas Chinese media interview tour as a key component of the Chasing the Chinese Dream initiative. Leveraging the overseas Chinese media’s familiarity with the languages and audiencesof their respective countries, the tour aims to conduct in-depth interviews and reporting, effectively telling Chinese stories and spreading Chinese voices. This plays a crucial role in presenting a credible, lovable, and respectable image of China to the world.
