调查指出,上班族兼职的主要原因包括增加收入、正职薪水久未调整或奖金变少、工作时间地点有弹性、通货膨胀开销变大以及偿还负债或贷款等。其中,增加收入成为最主要的动力,高达58%的受访者表示兼职是为了提高收入。
调查还发现,有兼职的上班族中,82.3%选择跨行业兼职。餐饮服务以29%的比例成为最热门的兼职选择,主要原因是餐饮业持续缺工,释放大量计时职缺,且门槛较低、工作机会选择多。艺术补习、社群经营和外送员等也因其工作时间灵活、收入可观而受到青睐。
28岁的刘小姐目前在银行担任行政职员,每月基本工资为27500元新台币。她表示,业余时间在热炒店等从事促销兼职,每月能增加1万多元新台币收入。年近30岁的郭小姐则是一名销售员,月薪加奖金约4万元新台币。她选择从事尤克里里、围棋教学等兼职,每月可增加1万元至1.5万元新台币收入,以维持一定的生活品质。
调查结果显示,台湾上班族负担较重的费用主要包括餐费、房贷/车贷/学贷和房租。在经济压力和生活成本不断攀升的背景下,兼职成为许多上班族缓解经济压力、维持生活品质的重要途径。

The survey identifies several key reasons for office workers takingon side gigs, including: increasing income, stagnant salaries or reduced bonuses, flexible work schedules and locations, rising inflation and expenses, and debt repayment. Increasing income emerged as the primary motivation, with 58% of respondents stating theytook on side jobs to boost their earnings.
The survey also found that 82.3% of those with side hustles choose to work in different industries. Food service, with 29% of respondents, is the most popular choice. This is largely due to the ongoing labor shortage in the food serviceindustry, which has created a large number of hourly positions with relatively low entry barriers and diverse job opportunities. Liu, a 28-year-old administrative assistant at a bank, earns amonthly base salary of NT$27,500. Guo, a 29-year-old sales representative, earns around NT$40,000 per month including bonuses. She teaches ukulele and Go, generating an additional NT$10,000 to NT$15,000 per month to maintain her desired lifestyle.
The survey results indicate that Taiwanese office workers face significant expenses, primarily in food, mortgage/car loan/student loan payments, and rent. Amidst rising economic pressure and living costs, side hustles have become a crucial avenue for many office workers to alleviate financial stress and maintain their quality of life.
Tseng Chung-wei, spokesperson for 1111 Job Bank, commented that the side hustle trend reflectsthe realities of financial pressure faced by Taiwanese office workers and their pursuit of stable income. He anticipates that side hustles will become even more prevalent in the future as economic conditions evolve. He also emphasizes the need for companies to be more attentive to their employees’ side hustle needs and offer more flexible work arrangements to attractand retain talent.
