## The 26th World Korean Speech Contest for Foreigners Opens Registration,Focusing on Korean Culture
**SEOUL, Aug. 23 (Yonhap)** – The Institute of International Education at Kyung Hee University announced on Wednesday thatregistration is now open for the 26th World Korean Speech Contest for Foreigners. Jointly organized by the Institute of International Education at Kyung Hee University and Yonhap News Agency, the competition aims to provide a platform for global Korean languageenthusiasts to showcase their language proficiency and cultural understanding.
This year’s competition features two themes: “What does Korean mean to me?” and “I want to recommend this about Korea.” Participants can choose one of the themes based on theirinterests and understanding to deliver their speeches. The official website for registration (http://speechinkorean.iie.ac.kr) is now open, and the deadline for registration is September 6th. Participants need to submit their speech manuscripts during registration.
The preliminary rounds will be held on September 19th and 20th, while the final round will be held on October 17th at Kyung Hee University. The competition will be judged by experts from renowned Korean universities and language institutions, who will select the final winners. The grand prize winner (1 person) will receive a prize of 1.5million won (approximately 8,000 yuan), while the second-place winners (2 people) will receive 1 million won.
In recent years, with the global popularity of Korean wave culture, the number of people learning Korean has been steadily increasing.
