据广东省应急管理厅消息,截至8月21日8时50分,广东省内共有26个暴雨预警信号生效。气象水文部门监测显示,8月19日18时至8月20日18时,全省平均降雨量为18.4毫米,其中梅州市梅县松口镇录得最大累积雨量203.5毫米,东莞市洪梅镇夏汇村录得最大小时雨量111毫米。
为应对持续强降雨,广东省防汛抗旱指挥部于8月20日20时将防汛四级应急响应提升至三级。截至8月20日18时,梅州市已启动防汛Ⅲ级应急响应,东莞、广州、河源、惠州、湛江、潮州、汕尾等7个地市启动防汛Ⅳ级应急响应,另有47个县区启动防汛应急响应,其中梅州市大埔、蕉岭、梅县启动防汛Ⅱ应急响应。
气象部门预计,8月21日,粤东、珠江口两侧、梅州将出现暴雨到大暴雨,局部特大暴雨,河源、韶关、清远、珠三角、粤西将出现大雨到暴雨,局部大暴雨。
