【Jing City News】On August 17, a support worker training aimed at enhancing multilingual listening and speaking abilities was held in Jing City, Mie Prefecture, Japan. The training attracted 13 staff members involved in assisting foreigners, who participated in a one-day course to receive professional guidance in order to better serve children with foreign backgrounds.

The main content of the training was to cultivate the support workers’ ability to stimulate and maintain children’s interest in learning Japanese and foreign languages, as well as to improve their listening and speaking skills. The instructors emphasized that, due to cultural and religious differences among countries, special attention should be paid to avoiding materials that touch on cultural and religious taboos when selecting teaching materials, to ensure the appropriateness of the teaching activities.

During the training, two instructors demonstrated how to teach using multiple languages by alternating between Japanese and Portuguese, captivating the attention of the trainees and teaching them how to communicate more effectively with children of different backgrounds.

Ms. Sakuma Eimi, a staff member of the Mie Prefecture International Exchange Foundation, stated that the “Multilingual Listening and Speaking Skills Support Worker” event is not yet well-known, but she hopes to expand its reach through continuous efforts, helping more children improve their Japanese abilities and promoting cultural exchange and understanding.
