Fuzhou, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — Recently, during the 12th Haiwan Youth Festival, teenagers from both sides of the Strait gathered at Fuzhou Minzu Middle School to participate in an innovative cultural exchange event. The event, themed “Teenagers from Both Sides of the Strait Collaborate in Writing and Performing,” aimed to enhance mutual understanding and friendship among cross-Strait teenagers through cultural exchanges and to jointly preserve and promote China’s excellent traditional culture.
During the event, students from the Jiaoyi University of Taiwan presented an impressive puppet show, “The Medicine Selling Storm,” using nimble fingers to manipulate the puppets and re-enacting the past scenario where medicine vendors attracted customers through shouting and acrobatics. Additionally, students from Fuzhou Minzu Middle School offered an original ethnic fusion music drama, “Fragrance,” which incorporated elements from various ethnic groups such as the Han, She, Ge, and Dong, showcasing the rich diversity of ethnic culture.

Professor Zhuang Shuqiong from Jiaoyi University of Taiwan believes that the Haiwan Youth Festival provides a platform for young people from both sides to understand each other, which is crucial for reducing misunderstandings and deepening emotional ties. She hopes that young people from both sides can learn and develop together through such activities.
The successful hosting of the event not only showcased the talents and creativity of teenagers from both sides but also injected new vitality into cross-Strait cultural exchanges.
