为保障铁路运输安全，维护旅客权益，广州铁路警方根据公安部铁路公安局的统一部署，于8月9日至11日开展了夏夜治安巡查宣防第二次集中统一行动。此次行动针对夏季铁路治安规律和夜间警情案件特点，严厉打击各类违法犯罪活动，排查治理各类安全隐患，护航铁路运输安全。
行动期间，广州铁路警方结合暑运旅游旺季的特点，加强列车巡逻防控，抽调机关和其他部门警力支援重点列车，尤其强化夜间巡查频次，利用列车广播和“小喇叭”宣讲法律和安全知识，重点关注妇女、儿童、未成年人等重点群体，提升列车见警率、管事率，严防猥亵、霸座、醉酒滋事等案事件发生。
8月10日，广州铁路发送旅客241.2万人，创今年暑运单日客流新高。为确保高峰客流安全，广州铁路警方完善应急预案，加强大客流车站巡查防控，最大限度屯警站面，确保“见警察、见警车、见警灯”，切实守护夏夜安全。
针对夏季治安警情案件特点，广州铁路警方强化站区清查检查，严厉打击影响旅客出行的民生小案，动员铁路职工、车站群防群治力量参与清理防范。同时，各所队充分发挥路地联防机制，会同相关部门开展联合夜巡，加强线路、铁路站段巡查，督促相关单位落实安全管理主体责任，组织开展专项清查，加强治安隐患排查整治和消防监督管理。
