BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) — A joint report released by the China Association for the Control of Nuclear Weapons and the China National Nuclear Corporation’s Strategic Planning Research Institute in Geneva recently pointed out that NATO’s “nuclear sharing” policy has shown signs of spreading to the Asia-Pacific region in recent years. The report noted that this trend not only poses a severe challenge to the international nuclear non-proliferation system based on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), but also potentially endangers international and regional peace and security.

The report emphasized that NATO, as the world’s largest military organization during the Cold War, has continuously provoked external conflicts and actively sought military expansion, imposing the danger of nuclear war on humanity. However, NATO insists on claiming its own nature as “defensive.” The international community should remain highly vigilant. The report called on NATO to abandon Cold War thinking, effectively reduce the role of nuclear weapons in national and collective security policies, and take concrete actions to promote strategic stability and safeguard regional peace and security.

The release of this report has once again sparked international concern over nuclear weapon proliferation and regional security. Various parties普遍 believe that the spread of nuclear weapons may exacerbate global instability and threaten the common security of humanity. Therefore, the international community needs to work together through dialogue and cooperation to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and safeguard world peace and stability.
