News Title: “Guangzhou Upgrades 130 Waste Stations to Purify Urban Environment”

Keywords: Upgrade, Environmental Protection, Guangzhou

News Content: The Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement recently announced that the city plans to complete the renovation and upgrading of 130 waste transfer and collection stations by the end of this year, aiming to improve urban environmental hygiene and enhance the quality of residents’ lives. This project is one of the city’s key livelihood projects for this year and is designed to address the impact of waste transfer stations on the lives of nearby residents.

The upgraded waste transfer stations will adopt new design concepts and technologies to significantly increase waste processing capacity. For example, the waste compaction station in Zhujiang International Textile City processed only about 60 tons per day before the renovation, but after the upgrade, it can handle up to 400 tons per day, significantly improving waste transfer efficiency.

At the Ruibao Street Resource Collection Center, the renovated center uses tones of green bricks and wood, featuring a design with overhanging eaves and flying corners that reflect the characteristics of the Lingnan region, with an ancient and elegant appearance. The center includes a rest area for sanitation workers and an LED screen that rolls out slogans for垃圾分类 (waste sorting). Additionally, the center has five zones: a washing area, a loading and unloading area, a storage area, a disposal area, and a tool area. Each zone has corresponding odor removal equipment and fly killers, effectively solving the problem of bad odors from waste transfer.

A spokesperson for the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement stated that after extensive research, 30 waste transfer stations and 100 waste collection stations located near residential areas were selected for upgrading. Currently, all stations have started the renovation and upgrading process, with five waste transfer stations and 17 waste collection stations having completed their upgrades, while the rest are under construction, with plans to fully complete the renovations by the end of November this year.

The renovation and upgrading of Guangzhou’s waste transfer and collection stations not only enhances waste processing capacity but also improves the surrounding environment and strengthens residents’ awareness of environmental protection, which is of great significance for improving the city’s image and quality of life for residents.
