HANGZHOU, July 26 (Xinhua) — In recent years, Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province, has actively promoted the integration of urban and rural development through measures such as filling gaps in rural areas, preserving cultural heritage, and enhancing rural aesthetics, bringing new opportunities for rural development and opening up a channel for the two-way flow of urban and rural resources.
In the Yangbi market town of Lanxi, with the improvement of the rural landscape and the prosperity of tourism, more and more urban residents are choosing to return to the countryside to develop and start businesses. For example, Zhu Fangfang, who gave up city life in Quzhou, returned to Yangbi and invested 1 million yuan to create her own “food kingdom,” focusing on Yangbi special snacks and stir-fried dishes. Similarly, creative products stores and travel photography shops have been opened by Shao Shuangjuan with high-end catering experience and Mao Jinhai from Xiangxi, Hunan, who also see potential in the development of Yangbi.
Pan Xueqin, the chairwoman of the People’s Congress of Yangbi Town in Lanxi City, said that the cultural and tourism industry in Yangbi has been developing rapidly in recent years. New business models such as morning tea shops, villas, coffee shops, bars, and travel photography have emerged one after another. Various new economic models of integration are growing stronger.
In Yar Village of Lanjiang Street, Chen Junxian, a girl from Jinhua, opened a small shop called “Banning·Xin She,” which covers aspects of health care, aesthetics, and music. Yar Village, with a history of over 700 years, has been revitalized through a model of renting out idle farmhouses, attracting various business models to settle in, not only protecting historical buildings but also driving the development of rural industries and the utilization of resources.
The practice in Lanxi City shows that the integration of urban and rural development not only promotes new business models in rural areas but also provides a good destination for those who yearn for poetry and distant lands. Through the complementary and reciprocal flow of urban and rural resources, Lanxi is gradually realizing its vision of a beautiful and livable countryside.
