News Content: [CHONGQING, July 22, 2024] The “Two Guardians” Financial Prosecution Campaign Launch in Chongqing-Yichang Week was inaugurated today at the Chongqing People’s Procuratorate. This marks the first joint Chongqing-Yichang Financial Prosecution Promotion Week activity conducted by the Chongqing People’s Procuratorate and the Sichuan People’s Procuratorate. The initiative aims to deepen the collaboration in the financial sector between the two regions, and jointly safeguard the interests of the public and the development of enterprises.
The “Two Guardians” Financial Prosecution Campaign in Chongqing-Yichang, which stands for “Guarding Public Interests” and “Protecting Enterprises,” is focused on strengthening cooperation between the two regions’ procuratorates in the financial sector to enhance the effectiveness of financial prosecution work, and promote the healthy development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. Since 2023, procuratorates in Sichuan and Chongqing have collectively handled 1,033 civil and administrative supervision cases in the financial sector, including 18 cases where they have lodged appeals and 77 cases where they have issued proposals for retrial. Out of 50 cases that were finally adjudicated, 47 had their original judgments overturned. They also issued 538 proposals for supervision of judicial activities and execution, of which 490 were accepted by the courts. These measures demonstrate the proactive role of the procuratorates in judicial supervision in the financial sector in both regions.
Chen Ping, the Vice President of the Chongqing People’s Procuratorate, stated that the procuratorates of Sichuan and Chongqing have strengthened the construction of financial investigation teams, theoretical research, and professional training, thus cultivating a specialized workforce proficient in financial prosecution. There are currently 143 personnel handling financial civil and administrative prosecution business in the two regions. This provides a solid talent guarantee for the efficient operation of financial prosecution work.
To advance the service of the public and optimize the business environment, the procuratorates of the two regions will further deepen cooperation in areas such as joint law enforcement and judicial work, coordination of major cases, and uniform application of laws and policies. They aim to address issues of coordination and establish a mechanism for collaboration. During the Promotion Week, they will also organize a financial prosecution survey and discussion session in the Sichuan region, inviting representatives from financial regulatory bodies and financial enterprises to participate and collect suggestions on how procuratorates can effectively serve and promote the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
