HNA NEWS NETWORK Lijiang May 25 (Zhang Kun and Jiang Ze’an) – The Yunnan Lincang Border Management Brigade announced on May 25 that officers from the Nansanda Border Police Station at the Cha Mountain Foot Police Station successfully rescued four star-nosed tortoises, a national first-class protected animal, on the China-Myanmar border on the 24th.

According to the report, during a patrol, the officers stumbled upon four star-nosed tortoises abandoned near the border line, suspected of being discarded due to illegal border crossing activities. The star-nosed tortoise is a national first-class protected animal, known for its unique ecological habits and rarity, and listed as an endangered species. The officers promptly took action, bringing the four tortoises to a safe location for treatment.

After examination by a professional veterinarian, the four star-nosed tortoises were found to be in good health with no serious injuries. The officers then contacted local wildlife protection departments and handed over the tortoises to professional institutions for further observation and care.

The Yunnan Lincang Border Management Brigade stated that it will continue to strengthen patrol and protection work in border areas, crack down on illegal wildlife trade and violations that destroy the wildlife habitat, and at the same time, call on society to participate in wildlife protection and contribute to the maintenance of biodiversity.

The successful rescue action not only demonstrated the officers’ determination and ability to protect rare wildlife in the country but also played a positive role in protecting biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance.
