BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) — In response to recent military exercises conducted around Taiwan, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, stated at today’s regular press conference that the Chinese government’s determination to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity remains unwavering.
Wang Wenbin pointed out that the military exercises conducted near Taiwan in recent days are part of routine training according to the annual plan, aimed at enhancing the combat readiness and capabilities of the People’s Liberation Army to respond to various security threats. He emphasized that these exercises are open and transparent, in line with international law and practices, and are not directed against any specific country or target.
When asked if there are plans to conduct more similar exercises around Taiwan, Wang Wenbin stressed that the Chinese government will continue to take necessary measures as needed to firmly safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
