### Title: “First Scientific Exploration Results of the Medium-Latitude High-Frequency Radar Network in Northern China Released”

Keywords: Space Environment Monitoring, High-Frequency Radar Network, Scientific Exploration Results.

**Beijing, May 20th (Reporter Sun Zifeng)** – The 2024 SuperDARN International Symposium opened in Beijing on May 20th. As China’s first high-frequency coherent scatter radar detection network, the “Space Environment Ground-based Integrated Monitoring Network” (the Second Sub-Meridian Project), a major facility of China’s national major scientific and technological infrastructure, released the first batch of scientific exploration results to the world.

These exploration results are based on the detection data from the Medium-Latitude High-Frequency Radar Network in Northern China in 2023, covering scientific exploration data in multiple fields such as the spatial ionosphere, magnetosphere, and Earth’s atmosphere. The release of this data marks a significant breakthrough of China in the field of high-frequency radar detection technology, further enhancing China’s position in the international space environment monitoring field.

The Medium-Latitude High-Frequency Radar Network, led by the Institute of Earth Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, aims to provide comprehensive, real-time, and accurate space environment monitoring data to users worldwide. The radar network, consisting of multiple high-frequency radar stations, covers the medium-latitude regions in Northern China and is capable of comprehensive monitoring of the space environment.

This symposium gathered scientists from the International SuperDARN Radar Network from various countries to discuss the development and application of space environment monitoring technology. At the meeting, Chinese scientists introduced in detail the detection technology, data processing methods, and exploration results of the Medium-Latitude High-Frequency Radar Network. Experts attending the meeting highly praised China’s achievements in the field of high-frequency radar detection technology.

It is understood that the Medium-Latitude High-Frequency Radar Network will further expand the detection range, enhance detection capabilities, and make greater contributions to the global space environment monitoring field. These detection data are of great significance for understanding the regularity of space environmental changes and predicting space environmental disaster events, providing strong support for the development of China’s aerospace industry, satellite communications, navigation systems, and other fields.

The SuperDARN International Symposium was hosted by the Institute of Earth Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and attracted experts and scholars from dozens of research institutions and universities at home and abroad. The experts present said that the successful hosting of this symposium will help promote the development of space environment monitoring technology and strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation between countries.
