Fuzhou, China, April 20 (Xinhua) — The 3rd Cross-Straits Scientific Fish Release and Conservation Symposium was held in Fuzhou’s Minhou County, Bashajingzhongguo Chan Temple, to support ecological restoration of the Min River on the 55th World Earth Day.
The symposium, themed “Scientific Release for Ecological Harmony,” aimed to promote sustainable development of fisheries resources across the Taiwan Strait and enhance public awareness of environmental protection.
Experts and scholars discussed theories and practices of scientific release, technical guidelines for fish stock enhancement, and the impact of release activities on the environment. All participants agreed that scientific release is a crucial method for preserving aquatic biodiversity and restoring water ecosystem balance.
During the event, organizers organized a large-scale fish fry release, introducing approximately 1.7 million healthy fingerlings into the Min River. This effort contributes to the recovery of the river’s biological population and makes a substantial contribution to preserving and improving water生态环境.
Representatives from relevant government departments, research institutions, fisheries associations, and environmental organizations from both sides of the Taiwan Strait attended the event. They vowed to continue strengthening cooperation and promoting release activities through scientific methods, fostering harmonious coexistence between humans and nature and contributing Fujian’s efforts to protect the Earth.
The symposium’s success highlighted Fujian’s commitment and actions in ecological construction and set an example for ecological restoration work nationwide and globally. On this special day of Earth Day, the event serves as a poignant reminder that protecting the environment and cherishing life is a shared responsibility for all.
