中新网西宁3月18日电(记者 张添福)18日11时58分，G0612西和高速天峻南至察汗诺北段关角山隧道正式通车运营，标志着西海(海晏)至察汗诺二标段全线贯通运营。
关角山隧道位于青海省海西蒙古族藏族自治州境内，是西和高速的关键控制性工程。隧道穿越关角山，全长33.47公里，是青藏高原最长的公路隧道，也是世界高海拔地区最长的公路隧道之一。该隧道的通车，对于改善青海省西部地区的交通条件，促进地区经济发展具有重要意义。
此前，由于关角山的地形复杂，交通极为不便，是制约当地发展的主要因素之一。关角山隧道通车后，西宁至格尔木的行车时间将大大缩短，对于加强青海与西藏之间的联系，促进区域协调发展，以及提升国家公路网的整体运行效率都具有积极作用。
