“雪龙2”号是中国自主建造的第一艘极地科考破冰船，其建造标志着中国在极地科考领域的自主能力再次提升。该船具备在极地海域进行科考作业的能力，能够在恶劣的海况下开展工作。此次访港，不仅是“雪龙2”号的一次对外展示，也是香港市民近距离了解极地科考、感受国家科技进步的一次难得机会。
