On February 28, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with the co-chairs of the intergovernmental negotiations on the reform of the UN General Assembly and the Security Council, permanent representatives to the UN from Kuwait and Austria in Beijing. During the meeting, Wang Yi said that all countries expect the United Nations to play a greater role in responding to global challenges. Reform is an inherent requirement for the UN’s own development and an urgent need to adapt to changes in the international situation. China supports the UN’s self-improvement and self-innovation, including Security Council reform.
