秦岭站是中国第五个南极考察站，是继长城站、中山站之后的第3个常年考察站，也是首个面向太平洋扇区的考察站。作为中国南极考察的重要基地，秦岭站的开站将有助于进一步提高我国在南极地区的科研能力和影响力。
