Huaihua, Hunan Province, April 14th, 2024 (Xinhua) – The Second Cross-Strait (Hunan) Youth Exchange and Development Conference commenced today in Huaihua City, Hunan Province, fostering deeper connections between young people from mainland China and Taiwan. The event, designed to promote cultural understanding and collaboration, saw the participation of youth representatives from Taiwan’s China Xia Art Academy and Huaihua University.

The opening ceremony featured a collaborative art project, Rhyme of Lotus, Shared Dream Across the Strait, where young artists from both sides jointly created a painting, symbolizing the shared cultural heritage and aspirations of the Chinese people. The conference also includes a series of activities focused on exploring and celebrating traditional Chinese culture.

This conference serves as a vital platform for young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to engage in meaningful dialogue and build lasting friendships, said a representative from the organizing committee. By fostering mutual understanding and appreciation, we hope to contribute to the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.

The event underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between mainland China and Taiwan through cultural exchange and youth engagement. As the conference progresses, participants are expected to delve into various aspects of Chinese culture, share their perspectives, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
