Tokyo, April 2, 2025 – Nintendo has officially announced the upcoming release of the Switch 2, including a Japan-exclusive version and a special bundle featuring Mario Kart. The news, first reported by IT Home and tipped by users 铺路机 and Gargantua, has sent ripples of excitement through the gaming community.

The Japan Domestic Version of the Switch 2 will be limited to Japanese language support and will only be compatible with Nintendo Accounts that have their country/region set to Japan. This localized version appears to be aimed at catering specifically to the Japanese market.

Adding to the excitement, Nintendo also unveiled a Mario Kart bundle for the Switch 2. This bundle includes the Japan Domestic Version of the console, pre-loaded with Mario Kart World. The bundle will retail for 53,980 Japanese Yen, which translates to approximately 2625 Chinese Yuan based on current exchange rates.

The standard Nintendo Switch 2 is priced between 49,980 and 69,980 Japanese Yen (approximately 2431 to 3403 Chinese Yuan). The release date for all versions is set for June 5th.

Key Details:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Japan Domestic Version: Japanese language only, compatible only with Japanese Nintendo Accounts.
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle: Includes the Japan Domestic Version of the console and Mario Kart World. Priced at 53,980 Yen.
  • Standard Nintendo Switch 2 Price: 49,980 – 69,980 Yen.
  • Release Date: June 5th.

Nintendo has provided a comparison chart detailing the differences between the various Switch 2 versions (machine translated). Gamers can expect more details during the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.

The announcement of the Japan-exclusive version and the Mario Kart bundle raises questions about Nintendo’s strategy for global distribution and localization. While the Japan Domestic Version might disappoint international fans, the Mario Kart bundle is likely to be a popular choice for Japanese consumers.

The gaming world awaits further details and hands-on impressions of the Nintendo Switch 2, poised to be a major player in the next generation of gaming consoles.
