Beijing, March 30, 2025 – In a swift response to the devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar, China has dispatched its International Search and Rescue Team (CISAR) to provide humanitarian assistance. The deployment, orchestrated under the unified command of the central government, underscores China’s commitment to international cooperation and disaster relief efforts.

The 118-member team, equipped with six search and rescue dogs, two rescue vehicles, and 634 sets of specialized equipment and medical supplies, departed from Beijing at 7:38 PM local time on March 30th. The team was transported aboard two Chinese Air Force Y-20 transport aircraft, showcasing China’s logistical capabilities in responding to international crises.

The CISAR team’s mission is to assist in search and rescue operations, provide medical assistance to those affected by the earthquake, and contribute to the overall humanitarian relief efforts in Myanmar. The team’s expertise and resources are expected to significantly bolster the ongoing efforts to locate and assist survivors in the affected areas.

This deployment marks another instance of China’s growing role in international disaster relief. CISAR has previously responded to earthquakes and other disasters around the world, demonstrating its commitment to providing timely and effective assistance to countries in need.

The earthquake in Myanmar has caused widespread damage and casualties, and the need for international assistance is critical. China’s rapid response underscores its dedication to humanitarian principles and its willingness to support its neighbors in times of crisis. The international community is closely monitoring the situation in Myanmar and stands ready to provide further assistance as needed.
