Beijing, China – Deep Blue, the electric vehicle (EV) arm of Changan Automobile, is making waves with the anticipated launch of its new mid-to-large size SUV, the S09. At the 2025 China EV100 Forum held recently, Deep Blue CEO Deng Chenghao personally revealed the price range for the S09, positioning it between 300,000 to 350,000 RMB (approximately $41,500 to $48,500 USD). This pricing strategy signals Deep Blue’s intent to compete in the premium EV segment, challenging established players with a compelling blend of technology and luxury.
The S09 boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 5205mm in length, 1996mm in width, and 1800mm in height, with a substantial wheelbase of 3105mm. These figures translate to a spacious interior, a key selling point in the competitive SUV market.
One of the S09’s standout features is its integration of the HarmonySpace intelligent cockpit, customized specifically for the vehicle. This system offers a suite of entertainment and convenience features, including a rear-seat ceiling-mounted entertainment center, immersive surround sound, a dedicated child-friendly mode, customizable scene settings, and a space cube functionality.
The driver and front passenger are treated to a dual 15.6-inch 2.5K ultra-high-definition screen with a brightness of 1000 nits, ensuring clear visibility even in bright sunlight. A 43-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) further enhances the driving experience by projecting crucial information onto the windshield. Comfort is prioritized with 8-point massage, ventilation, heating, and 10-layer wrapping for the front seats.
Rear passengers are not forgotten, with the S09 featuring industry-unique horizontally sliding zero-gravity massage seats paired with a 21.4-inch high-definition entertainment screen. The middle-row seats offer 180mm of horizontal sliding adjustment, integrated cloud-sensing leg rests, 8-point massage, ventilation, and heating. The 21.4-inch, 3K resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio rear entertainment screen is electrically adjustable from 0 to 75 degrees, providing a personalized viewing experience.
Further enhancing the in-cabin experience is an integrated smart mobile center console featuring a flip-top refrigerator with temperature control ranging from -6 to 50°C.
Built on Deep Blue’s EPA1 all-electric digital platform, the S09 leverages a highly integrated design and the Deep Blue Super Range-Extender power system. The platform is designed for maximum space utilization, resulting in a claimed 4.3-meter pure flat floor. Notably, the third-row seats also offer heating functionality, a rarity in the segment.
The S09 is powered by Deep Blue’s Super Range-Extender 2.0 platform, utilizing the same JL469ZQ1 1.5T turbocharged range extender found in the Avatr 07 and Deep Blue G318. The vehicle will be available in both single-motor (231kW) and dual-motor (131kW front + 231kW rear) configurations, paired with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
