A new Honor smartphone, bearing the model number DVD-AN00, has been certified by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), revealing key features that suggest it could be the upcoming Honor X70 Pro. The device boasts 80W wired fast charging and, notably, supports the Beidou-3 short message service, a feature increasingly valued for its potential in emergency communications.

The news, first reported by IT Home on March 22nd, highlights the growing trend of integrating satellite communication capabilities into consumer smartphones. The Beidou-3 short message service allows users to send and receive brief text messages via the Beidou satellite navigation system, providing a crucial communication lifeline in areas with limited or no cellular coverage. This feature is particularly relevant for users in remote areas, outdoor enthusiasts, and emergency responders.

Prior to the MIIT certification, the DVD-AN00 model had already received 3C certification, confirming its support for up to 80W wired fast charging. While the official marketing name of the device remains under wraps, industry observers speculate that it is likely the Honor X70 Pro, given Honor’s typical release cycle.

To provide context, let’s look at the specifications of its predecessor, the Honor X60 series, launched in October 2024.

  • Honor X60: Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7025-Ultra processor, features a 6.8-inch 120Hz LCD screen with a resolution of 2412×1080. It houses a 5800mAh battery and supports 35W wired charging, with a starting price of 1199 yuan.
  • Honor X60 Pro: Equipped with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, boasts a 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 2700×1224. It packs a larger 6600mAh battery and supports 66W wired charging,

For further comparison, the Honor 300 series, released in December, offers a glimpse into Honor’s higher-end offerings:

  • Honor 300: Features the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, priced from 2299 yuan, with 100W wired fast charging.
  • Honor 300 Pro: Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, starts at 3399 yuan, with 100W wired fast charging.
  • Honor 300 Ultra: Also equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, priced from 4199 yuan, with 100W wired fast charging.

Conclusion:

The certification of the DVD-AN00 model signals Honor’s continued commitment to innovation and its focus on delivering practical features to consumers. The inclusion of Beidou-3 short message service is a significant step forward, potentially setting a new standard for smartphone functionality in challenging environments. The expected 80W fast charging is also a welcome upgrade. If the device does indeed turn out to be the Honor X70 Pro, it will be interesting to see how Honor balances performance, features, and price to compete in the increasingly crowded smartphone market. Future reports will reveal more information about the new model.
