Beijing, March 19, 2024 – In a bold move signaling its commitment to artificial intelligence, China Unicom has announced an uncapped salary structure for highly sought-after AI experts. This announcement comes on the heels of a strong 2024 financial report, showcasing the company’s robust growth and profitability.

The telecommunications giant released its 2024 financial results on March 18th, reporting a revenue of 389.6 billion yuan, a 4.6% year-on-year increase. Profits attributable to equity holders reached 20.6 billion yuan, marking a significant 10.1% rise, with the return on net assets climbing to 5.8%.

During the earnings conference, Wang Junzhi, Executive Director of China Unicom, elaborated on the company’s strategic deployment in the field of AI talent. He emphasized that the application of AI technology is accelerating talent aggregation, creating ample space for optimizing the company’s talent structure.

We are proactively responding to the new demands on talent structure brought about by technological innovation, Wang stated. We are continuously improving talent cultivation and support, actively empowering management, technology, and skilled personnel, and facilitating talent transformation and upgrading. We encourage outstanding talent to flow into the field of artificial intelligence and increase the supply of AI talent.

China Unicom’s strategy for attracting and retaining top AI talent encompasses several key aspects:

  • Recruitment: Leveraging its position as a central state-owned enterprise, China Unicom aims to attract exceptional talent in the AI field, offering personalized service guarantees.

These packages will be subject to contractual management and differentiated implementation, with no upper limit on potential earnings. The required salary budgets will be allocated separately.

This aggressive talent acquisition strategy reflects China Unicom’s ambition to be a leader in the AI revolution. By offering uncapped salaries and fostering a supportive ecosystem, the company aims to attract and retain the best and brightest minds in the field, driving innovation and securing its position in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
