Chongzuo, Guangxi – China’s first cross-border tourism cooperation zone is experiencing a resurgence in market activity, fueled by attractive incentives aimed at drawing tourists from Hong Kong and Macao. The zone, located in Chongzuo, Guangxi, is strategically positioned to capitalize on its unique geographical advantage and offer a distinctive tourism experience.
Since March this year, we have received six Thai tour groups, totaling 159 visitors, said Wei Hong, Deputy General Manager of China Travel Service (CTS) Guangxi Detian Transnational Waterfall Scenic Area, in an interview with a China News Service reporter on March 17th. Several Thai travel agencies have indicated that their bookings are stable and that flight capacity is guaranteed. We anticipate welcoming nearly 1,000 Thai tourists to the scenic area from March to April.
The Detian Transnational Waterfall, a major attraction within the cooperation zone, is a testament to the region’s natural beauty and its potential to attract international visitors. The increase in Thai tourists highlights the effectiveness of the zone’s efforts to diversify its tourism base.
The focus on attracting tourists from Hong Kong and Macao is a strategic move to leverage the close ties and cultural affinity between the mainland and these special administrative regions. The incentives offered are designed to make the cross-border travel experience more appealing and accessible.
The development of this cross-border tourism cooperation zone is significant for several reasons:
- Economic Growth: It stimulates economic growth in the region by creating jobs and boosting revenue for local businesses.
- Cultural Exchange: It promotes cultural exchange and understanding between China and its neighboring countries, as well as with Hong Kong and Macao.
- Regional Integration: It strengthens regional integration and cooperation in the tourism sector.
The success of this initiative could serve as a model for other regions in China looking to develop cross-border tourism opportunities. By focusing on targeted marketing, offering attractive incentives, and ensuring a high-quality tourism experience, China can further enhance its position as a leading global tourism destination.
Conclusion:
The rebound in market activity in China’s first cross-border tourism cooperation zone is a positive sign for the region’s tourism industry. The focus on attracting tourists from Hong Kong and Macao, coupled with the influx of international visitors, demonstrates the zone’s potential for sustainable growth. As the zone continues to develop and refine its offerings, it is poised to become a major tourism hub, contributing to economic growth, cultural exchange, and regional integration.
