Shenzhen, China – BYD, the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially announced the upcoming launch of its new all-electric SUV, the Sea Lion 05 EV. Zhang Zhuo, General Manager of BYD’s Ocean Network Sales Division, made the announcement via a Weibo post, teasing the vehicle as a born urban protagonist.
The Sea Lion 05 EV is the latest addition to BYD’s Ocean series, a lineup known for its youthful design and focus on intelligent technology. Zhang Zhuo’s post included design sketches of the vehicle, hinting at a sleek and modern aesthetic aimed at attracting urban consumers.

According to previous reports from IT Home, the Sea Lion 05 EV was initially revealed in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) catalog earlier this year. The vehicle will be available with two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery options: 50.048 kWh and 60.928 kWh. These batteries will provide corresponding ranges of 430 km and 520 km, respectively, based on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).
Compact SUV Dimensions
The Sea Lion 05 EV is a compact SUV with dimensions of 4520mm in length, 1860mm in width, and 1630mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2720mm. The vehicle has a curb weight of 1780kg and a gross weight of 2235kg. It will be powered by a 160kW electric motor.
